Atlas - Michael Mark Menapace, 78, passed away Thursday, August 4, after a courageous 14-month battle with leukemia. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family.

Michael grew up in Atlas and was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Mahalik) Menapace. Michael graduated from Mount Carmel Catholic High School, class of 1963. In addition to his work in construction, he volunteered with the Atlas Fire Company for many years. He served as Captain and helped train younger volunteers. He was a hard worker. If he wasn't working on his own home, he was helping a neighbor work on theirs.

Michael is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol (Dalpiaz) Menapace of Atlas; daughters, Sharon (Dave Carneiro) Menapace of Portland, OR and Dawn (Roy) Stickler of Kulpmont; grandchildren, Braedon Stickler, Kyra Stickler, and Gianna Carneiro; siblings, Charles (Mary) Menapace of Kulpmont, Constance (Robert) Klinger of Hagerstown, MD, and Joseph Menapace of Trevorton; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Violet (Fabrizio) Dalpiaz.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt. Carmel, C. J. Lucas IV, Supervisor. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Viewing will be held in the Funeral Home on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service at 8 p.m. and Monday, August 8, 2022 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Atlas Firefighters Equipment Fund, at 306 West Saylor St., Mt. Carmel, PA 17851.
