Marion Heights – Michael D. Skopatz, 75, of 151 W. North Street, passed away December 23, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born in Shamokin Hospital on July 28, 1947, the son of late Michael P. and Francis (Gessic) Skopatz.

Michael was a 1965 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School and a lifelong resident of the Mount Carmel area. He proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, and a Silver Service Star. He was employed as a foreman for Celotex in Sunbury.

On June 2, 2006 he married Lisa M. Megosh, who survives.

Michael was a member of the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. He was a life member of the Mount Carmel VFW, 33-year member of the Kulpmont American Legion, life member of Council 628 Knights of Columbus in Mount Carmel, and life member of the Assembly 959, known as the Fourth Degree. He enjoyed cooking, singing, decorating, and hunting.

Michael will sadly be missed by his wife, Lisa M. Skopatz; loving daughter, Shelly and husband, Justin; granddaughter, Lil; sister, Maryann Greager and husband, Edward; brother, Rick Skopatz; sister, Linda Gotaskie and husband, Syl; much loved goddaughter, Jennifer Becker and husband, Mike; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was known as grandpa by Sierra Nolter, who he raised as a daughter, and her fiancé Anthony Schaeffer, he was known as pappy by his best pal, Aiden Nolter, and known as pop-pop by the newest addition, Henry Norman Nolter, also his bonus son, Michael Nolter and his wife, Mary Ellen, bonus daughter, Megan Nolter and companion, Shawn Reed. Michael was known as "The Show" and was the life of the party. The show must go on.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Father Francis Karwacki as celebrant in the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 47 S. Market St., Mt Carmel. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp. Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service at 8 p.m. and Friday, December 30, 2022 from 9 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. with Transferal Prayers at 10 a.m. in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt. Carmel PA 17851, C. J. Lucas IV, supervisor.
