Mount Carmel - Mildred R. Greco, 96, 501 West Avenue, Mount Carmel, passed away March 23, 2018 at her residence.

Born on December 4, 1921, in Mount Carmel, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Bertha (Zyskowski) Gluchowski. She attended Kulpmont High School.

On September 19, 1944 she married the love her life the late Charles J. Greco II at Our Lady of Pompeii in Baltimore, Maryland. She lived in Mount Carmel until her death and was an exceptional homemaker.  She and Charles raised five children.

Mildred was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, Legion of Mary, and the Ramblers Club. Mildred enjoyed bowling at Ridge Lanes and excelled at the sport.  Later in life, she became a world traveler and treasured those times with her friends.  Mildred was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, and later word-search puzzles.  Anyone who met her was greeted by a genuine smile.  Mildred always looked for the good in people, and negative comments were not in her vocabulary.  Thoughtful advice was given to those who sought it.

Mildred enjoyed doing volunteer work at Geisinger Medical Center for 23 years.  She and Madaline Thiroway provided scholarships for nursing students to further their education.  Mildred gave great comfort and care to her loved ones.  In addition to administering to her husband and mother Bertha at home, she was also the primary caregiver to her dear friend Madaline.  Her nursing skill for those three individuals was learned and exceptional.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Charles J. Greco III and his wife Sandy of Florida; Dr. Richard A. Greco and his wife MaryBeth of Kulpmont; a daughter, Barbara A. Iwanski and her husband Joseph of Kulpmont; seven grandchildren; Lisa Wufsus (Alan), Chuck Greco (June), Matthew Greco (Amy), Joseph Iwanski Jr. (Amber), Nadine Deroba (Todd), Dr. Richard A. Greco Jr., Dr. Michael J. Greco (Samantha), and a sister, Lorraine Dallatore. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband include brothers Eugene and Raymond Gluchowski, sister Dorothy DeMarco, son David Paul Greco, daughter Judith Ann Greco, grandson Gregory M. Iwanski and daughter-in-law Janet Greco.

Mildred R. Greco, 96, 501 West Avenue, Mount Carmel -  Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 2, 2018 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300West Avenue, Mount Carmel with Father Martin O. Moran III, officiating. Burial will be in Saint Peters Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township. Viewing will be held Monday morning from 9:00-10:45 with transferal prayers at 10:00 in the C.J.
