Mount Carmel - Olga (Brechun) Philips, 97, formerly of 189 Greco Lane, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

Born in Perth Amboy, NJ on April 6, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Kotlar Brechun.  She was a graduate of Kulpmont High School and has been a resident of Mount Carmel for 23 years; she was employed as a clerk in a pharmacy.

On June 11, 1944 in Marion Heights she married the late David Philips who preceded her in death on October 2, 1993

She was a member of the Assumption of the BVM Church in Centralia and the League of Ukrainian Catholics and was involved in politics, she served as chairperson for the Republican Women. She loved spending time with grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane M. Lepley and her husband John of Mount Carmel and Donna M. Midway of Berwick; one son, David M. Philips and his wife Marie of Northampton; ten grandchildren, Deana Midway and her partner Tim Spudes, Debbie Demler and her husband Bill and Donna Dewhurst all of Berwick; Brian Philips and his wife Allison and David Kyle Philips and his wife Kelley, all of Easton; Christian Lepley and his fiancé Amy Thomas of Coal Township; Jon Lepley and his wife Renee of Lancaster; Dyan Leslie and her husband Brian of Elysburg; Brandon Lepley of Coal Township and Shaine Lepley and his fiancé,, Mary Lyle of Delaware; fourteen great grandchildren, Alicia Domanski and her husband Christopher, Tiffany Spudes, Jessica Shultz and her husband Billy, Jacob Demler, Steven and Christopher Dewhurst, Caitlyn and Riley Philips, Amber Reed and her fiancé David Yarnell, Kaitlyn Milo, Jordyn Lepley, Tommy Ziemba, Amelia and Jude Leslie; three great great grandchildren, Maeve Spudes, JJ Paulas and Lorelai Yarnell; one sister, Verna Payer; one brother-in-law, Fred Culp and his wife Frances as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Brechun and his wife Anna; three sisters, Mary Olevian and her husband Michael, Helen Wahosky and her husband Norman and Mildred Culp and a brother-in-law Joseph Payer.

Olga Philips, 97, formerly of 131 West Melrose Street, Marion Heights - Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 am in SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 131 North Beech Street, Mount Carmel with the Very Reverend Archpriest Michael Hutsko, officiating.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.  Viewing will be held Friday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 with Panakhyda at 10:15 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, C.J.
