Mount Carmel - Peter V. Dowkus, 61, of 400 West 4th Street, died in his home on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

Born in South Williamsport on December 20, 1955, he was the son of late Joseph and Marie (Roman) Dowkus. He resided in Mount Carmel for the past 40 years, previously living on 107 E. Sunbury Street, Shamokin. Peter was employed as an equipment operator for Conrail.

Peter went to St. Stan's Parochial School and graduated from Shamokin Area High School in 1973. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed camping at Si-Nora Campground.

Peter was a former member of Holy Cross Church, "A" member of Clover Hose of Mt. Carmel, the Lithuanian Social Club and the Erdman Sportsmen Association.

He is survived by three sons, Peter Dowkus of Mount Carmel, Daniel Dowkus and his wife Melissa of Kulpmont, and Andrew Dowkus of Mount Carmel; 2 grandchildren Damon and Avery Dowkus; a brother Joseph Dowkus; a sister Jean Roman; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph in 2008, and his mother Marie in 1970.

Peter V. Dowkus, 61, of 400 West 4th Street, Mount Carmel - Memorial Service will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements are being cared for by C. J.
