Mount Carmel – Phillip Kundis, 87, formerly of 423 North Maple St., passed away on April 28, 2023, at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital after a three-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

He was born in Mount Carmel on November 4, 1935, the son of the late Peter and Eva (Waryan) Kundis.

Phillip was born and raised in Diamondtown and was a graduate of Mount Carmel Joint Highschool, class of 1954. He proudly served in the US Air Force for 19 years including deployment in Vietnam. Phillip worked as an airplane mechanic and was in charge of Ordinance Deployment. After retiring from the Air Force, Phillip lived in Florida, then Avis, PA. He returned to Mt. Carmel in 2020 and was a resident at the Mt. Carmel Senior Living Community until he passed.

He was member of Holy Cross Orthodox Church, Williamsport and most recently a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Mount Carmel. He was an avid fisherman and was also an active member of the Wings of Williamsport RC club.

Phillip is survived by two sisters-in-law, Joan M. Kundis of Palm Bay, FL and Pauline Kundis of Winter Park, FL; a nephew, Chis Mathias of Mt. Carmel, PA; and a niece, Pam Sweny of Holland, MA; as well as many nieces nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his sister, Eugenia "Jean" Mathias; and four brothers, Walter Kundis, Harold Kendon, Paul Kundis, and Peter Kundis.

Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
