Mount Carmel – Richard R. Santer, 71, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at his residence.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 1, 1950, the son of the late Robert and Gail (Rakus) Santer.

Rich was a very interesting and talented fellow. He was very bright and won entrance into one of Brooklyn's best schools specializing in Science, Erasmus Hall High School. After graduation Rich entered the US Army and was tasked to go to Vietnam. He volunteered to be a Specialist "Senior Dog Handler" which is what inspired him to later become a Veterinarian Technician.

After Rich returned home from the service, he attended Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn where he finished with a Bachelor's Degree in Science. He chose a career as a Med Tech in a hospital in that area. "Doc", his Army nickname, later decided to move to Mount Carmel into his late parents' home. Rich worked for Geisinger Medical Center, Danville as a Night Supervisor for the Laboratory Department for over twenty years until his retirement.

Rich loved music, played with numerous bands, and even had a music CD recorded of his earlier songs he played. He also did the sound work for some well know musicians in his younger days. He was one of the kindest souls on Earth who always saw the good in people and disregarded their faults. Rich was a good listener who never passed judgement and offered his guidance if you wanted it.

Rich is survived by his sister, Barbara Anne Jacobacci of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
