Kulpmont – Robert J. Balitchik, 83, of 1317 Chestnut St., passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville.

He was born on September 9, 1937, the son of the late John J. and Elsie D. (Warolalak) Balitchik.

Robert was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School and the Police Academy. He worked as a Police Officer for Mount Carmel Township.

On June 26, 1969, he married Rose Ann Volanoski, who preceded him in death on December 14, 2002. On May 25, 2013 in Shenandoah, he married Sue Robel, who survives.

He was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, formerly St. John's Church.

Robert is survived by his wife, Sue Balitchik of Kulpmont; a son, Michael Balitchik of Kulpmont; a daughter-in-law, Lara Balitchik of Palmyra; four sisters, Ann Bressi of Kulpmont, Elizabeth Suranyi and husband, Bela of FL, Kathleen Bowden and husband, John of Pottsville, and Jacqueline Kaminsky and husband, Bernard of Atlas; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his first wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son, John R. Balitchik; and a sister, Mary Galazin and husband, Stanley.

Robert J. Balitchik, 83, of 1317 Chestnut St., Kulpmont – Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 W. Ave., Mt. Carmel, with Father Ryan Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. with transferal prayers are 10 a.m. in the C. J.
