Mount Carmel - Robert A. Hampton, 68, of Mount Carmel passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his daughter's residence in Ashland.

Born in Ashland on November 10, 1948 he was the son of Vivian "Dolly" (Lindenmuth) Hampton of Aristes and the late Robert "Preach" Hampton.

He was employed at Cardinal Container and Mr. Hanger and was also a carpenter and electrician.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1972 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal.

On December 25, 1968 in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mount Carmel he married the late Barbara Maher, who preceded him in death on September 14, 2014.

Robert was a 1966 graduate of Ashland High School.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clover Hose Fire Company, Free Masons Cedar Lodge # 378, American Legion Post 91, American Hose Community Ambulance, and State Fire Police, all of Mount Carmel.  He was also a member of Aristes Fire Company, Black Diamond Marine Corps League, 6th County Fireman's Convention Association and was financial secretary of the Clover Hose Fire Company for 45 years.

Robert loved children. He and Barbara would do anything to help out any child.  Together they hosted 23 foreign exchange students from all over the world.  He was also involved in Foster Parenting Programs.  His home was always open to anyone in need.  He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors.  He loved camping at J & D Campground, watching TV, and reading.  He loved all sports and was a diehard Red Tornadoes fan.

He was a proud and devoted father and loved all his children and grandchildren with his whole heart and would do anything for them. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be deeply missed by one and all.

In addition to his mother Vivian he is survived by four daughters, Dawn Troutman and her husband Rodney; Candace Bossler and her husband John of Mount Carmel; Amy Tocyloski and her husband Jim of Newark, DE; and Robin Hampton and her significant other, Chris Salisbury of Montoursville; six grandchildren, Cassandra Troutman and her significant other, Micah Lesher, Megan Troutman and her significant other, Isaac Darrup, Johnny Bossler and his significant other, Julia Ballard, Erin Bossler, Evan Bossler, Andrew Tocyloski and one Tocyloski on the way; three sisters, Diane Armstrong of VA; Donna Buhay and her husband John of Mount Carmel and Susan Darrah and her husband Ed of Wilburton; two brothers, Dennis Hampton of State College and William Hampton and his wife Cindy of Aristes; one sister-in-law, Cindi Hampton of Harrisburg; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife and father he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Raymond and Ruth Maher.

Robert A. Hampton, 68, Mount Carmel - Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 11:00 am in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel with Pastor Bonnie Yeager, officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township.  Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 9:00 - 11:00 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J.
