Mount Carmel - Robert L. Hovanes, 59, formerly of South Oak Street, died Friday, April 13, 2018 at Rose Wood Nursing Home in Schuylkill Haven.

Born in Camden, New Jersey on August 5, 1958 he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Mary Rita (Socoloski) Hovanes.

He was a lifelong resident of the Mount Carmel Area and was employed by Goulds Pumps in Ashland prior to his disability.

Robert was a 1976 graduate of Mount Carmel High School and a former member of St. Paul's Chapel in Atlas, currently a member of Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Rowland and her husband, Jim of Mount Carmel and Michele Cupsta and her husband John of Valley View as well as one aunt Jacqueline Wanzie of Schuylkill Haven; three nieces, Amber Melocheck and her husband, Kevin of Hegins; Sara Cupsta of Sacramento and Kimberly Duceman and her husband Allen of Virginia; one nephew James Rowland of Enola and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph J. Hovanes, his mother, Mary Rita Socoloski and a brother, Joseph F. Hovanes.

Robert L. Hovanes, 59, formerly of South Oak Street, Mount Carmel - Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a funeral service to be held Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 am  in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel with Reverend Martin O. Moran III, officiating.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Visitation will be held Friday, April 27, 2018 from 10 am until the time of service in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Divine Redeemer Church, 438 West Avenue, Mount Carmel, PA 17851.
