Kulpmont – Robert Joseph Maus, 59, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center after a recent illness.  Bob, or Bobby as some called him, was born on December 15, 1962 at Shamokin State Hospital to John Leo Maus, Sr. and Rosemarie Marion (Rovito) Maus of Kulpmont.

Bobby was born with Down Syndrome but worked hard to graduate from the special education program at the Shamokin Area School District.  Bob went on to live a wonderfully full and productive life.  He was a kind and talented individual who found friends and happiness everywhere.  Bob enjoyed collecting trading cards and analyzing the statistics of his favorite players.  He was a diehard fan of the Denver Broncos and John Elway.  Bobby's pride and joy was his collection of Broncos memorabilia and the autographed photos sent to him from the Broncos organization.  He was once heralded by The News-Item as "the Biggest Broncos Fan in Kulpmont." Bobby was exceptionally astute in professional sports transactions, regularly identifying potential trades, free agent signings and, most notably, NFL Draft selections.  Bob was also an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. When Bobby wasn't focused on sports, he loved watching television programs and wrestling events.  In the last decade of his life, Bob was an active member at Suncom in Coal Township and a regular guest at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL, where he enjoyed making memories with his brother Carl and watching the Mariachi Cobre band at Epcot.

Bob had many friends and neighbors who would drop by often to say hello and chat.  The fortunate ones were entertained by one of Bobby's special dance moves, which were always a hit at any wedding receptions he attended.  Bobby was also a skilled singer, whether it was the latest country hit or the theme song to a popular sitcom.

Bobby was a member of the local Boy Scout Troop started by his father for special needs children to enjoy the scouting experience.  Camp Karoondinha was the highlight of his scouting career.  Bob was also a Special Olympics athlete who always gave his best in whatever event he participated in.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, John Kenneth (July 20, 1954); his father John Sr. (January 15, 2002); and his mother Rosemarie (July 18, 2011).  Bobby is sadly missed by his surviving brothers, Carl and Jack; nephew, Josh; great-nephew, Josh; as well as his cousins, extended family and friends.

Robert Joseph Maus, 59, of Kulpmont – Funeral Service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
