Mount Carmel – Robert Smith, 67, of 312 S. Maple St., passed away on May 16, 2024, at his residence.

He was born in Shamokin on October 29, 1956, the son of the late Robert Smith Sr. and Mary Menapace. Robert's mother passed away when he was just two years old, and he was subsequently raised by Leo and Eleanor Millun.

Robert was a lifelong resident of the Mount Carmel area and a 1975 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. He worked as a diesel mechanic, welder, and most recently served as a bartender at the West End Athletic Club in Mount Carmel.

On September 25, 2004, he married the former Bonnie Lucas in Mount Carmel.

Robert was a member of the Catholic Faith and also a member of the Mount Carmel VFW.

Robert is survived by his wife, Bonnie Smith of Mount Carmel; three daughters, Marcia Smith, Melanie Smith, and Rebecca Doyle; two sons, Robert Smith and Christopher Lucas; a brother, David Smith; seven grandchildren; a niece; and some cousins.

In addition to his biological parents and the parents who raised him, Robert was preceded in death by two daughters, Tina Lucas and Tonya Weidner.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 2nd at 2 p.m. in the Atlas American Legion, 11637 State Route 61, Mt Carmel, PA 17851.
