Kulpmont - Robert E. Whispell Sr., 84, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 11:45 pm at his son, Gerard's residence at 126 Virginia Lane.

Born in Danville on November 6, 1932 he was the son of the late William E. and Catherine (Kessler) Whispell.  Robert was a 1951 graduate of Danville High School.

Robert was employed as a carpenter.

On February 27, 1954 in St. Paul's Chapel in Bainbridge, Maryland he married the late Barbara M. Altomare who preceded him in death on September 9, 2015.

Robert served as a Corpsman with the US Navy from 1951-1959. He was past president of the Atlas Fire Company and past commander of the VFW in Mount Carmel.

Survivors include three sons, Gerard and his wife Deborah of Kulpmont; Joseph and his wife Diane of Maine; Robert Jr., of Fort Myers, FL; a daughter, Jolene Gross of York; seven grandchildren, Cameron, Mia, Lisa, Ben, Amanda, William and Bobby; one brother, William and his wife Sandy of Bloomsburg; two sisters, Shirley Densberger of Milton and Susan Reibsome of Danville as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis on February 24, 2013.

Robert E. Whispell Jr., 84 of 126 Virginia Lane, Kulpmont - Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a funeral mass on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mount Carmel with Reverend Martin O. Moran III, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont.
