Elysburg - Ronald Mark Savitski, 59 of 231 Thomas Road, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at home after a five month battle with cancer

Born in Danville on February 28, 1958 he was the son of the late Anthony and Irene (Petrovich) Savitski Sr. He was a 1976 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and attended Milford Academy, a football prep school in Connecticut, then attended Wilkes University.

Ronald grew up in Kulpmont and has resided in Elysburg for the past 25 years.

He was employed as an independent hard coal entrepreneur and was involved with the Savitski Brother's Coal Company for many years, he went on to be the owner and operator of Burnrite Coal Company and Casey Trucking.

On September 20, 1997 in St. Mark's Church, Nescopeck he married the former Laurie J. Smith, who survives.

He was a member of the former St. Casimir's Church, now Holy Angels in Kulpmont. He was a former AYSO soccer coach and SYBL basketball coach, and was also a past member of the Southern Columbia Area School Board.

His greatest love was his three children and was very proud of them and their accomplishments. He loved spending time with his children, going different places and attending their activities.  He loved to listen to Grateful Dead music and attended hundreds of dead shows. He was an avid Penn State football fan and also liked to attend other college and professional sporting events.

In addition to his wife, Laurie he is survived by three children, Casey, Cassidy and Carson Savitski, at home; his in-laws, Robert and Patricia Smith of Nescopeck; a brother-in-law, Robby Smith also of Nescopeck; a brother, David Savitski and his wife Cindy of Mount Carmel; two sisters, Deborah Pattison and her husband Michael of Shippensburg; and Cindy Savitski of Mount Carmel one sister-in-law, Giselle Savitski of Kulpmont as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by twin daughters, Cloey and Emily who died at birth, two brothers Anthony "Cookie" Savitski Jr and Daniel Savitski and one sister, Linda Savitski.

Ronald Mark Savitski, 59 of 231 Thomas Road, Elysburg - Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Marion Heights.  Viewing will be held Friday morning from 9:30 - 11:30 with transferal prayers at 10:30 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc.,1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, C.J.
