Rose Marie Herget

Alexandria, VA - Rose Marie Herget, 90, passed away peacefully as she was called home by her Heavenly Father on September 14, 2026.

Born in Kulpmont, PA, on November 12, 1935, to Louis and Jennie (Naimo) Stellar, she was the youngest of twelve children. She attended St. Mary’s and St. Casimir’s grade schools and graduated from Kulpmont High School. During her high school years, she played basketball and was a talented majorette for the band.

After graduating high school, she moved to Virginia and was employed as a typist clerk. Later, she put her love of music and gift of dance to good use and became a dance instructor.

She loved working with children, and over the years, had various jobs looking after children and was a highly sought after nanny. She eventually retired from Bucknell Elementary School in Alexandria, VA, where she was a Cafeteria Monitor for many years.

She had an easygoing demeanor, a good sense of humor, and was the favorite patient of many of her nurses and caregivers.

Rose Marie is survived by her three children, Richard W. Herget, Michael J. Herget, and Amy D. Robinson (Patrick), and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by six brothers: Joseph Stellar, Salvatore Stellar, William Stellar, Edward Stellar, Raymond Stellar, and Bernard Stellar; and five sisters: Anna Altmire, Genevieve Stellar, Teresa Giorgini, Elaine Stellar, and Gloria Slonena.

The Herget family will receive friends and family on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Angels, Kulpmont, PA 17834. Burial will follow at St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Marion Heights, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont, PA 17834, or to a charity of your choice.
