Kulpmont - Rose Marie Zawalick, 86, peacefully passed away at her home with her family by her side on Friday, September 28, 2018, 21 years to the day from the passing of her son, John Zawalick.

Born in Kulpmont on August 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Dimitrius "Mitro" and Alexandra (Kuzmich) Bogush. She attended Kulpmont schools.

On September 26, 1953 in Shamokin she married the late John J. Zawalick who preceded her in death on November 10, 1978.

Rose Marie was a homemaker as well as a family caregiver. She was employed at Geisinger Medical Center for 10 years as a surgical packer in the Central Supply Unit.

She was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels, formerly a member of St. Casimir's Church.

Rose's life was devoted to her family. She was happiest as a hostess.  She was proud of the home she made and especially proud of the family she cared for.  Her favorite moments were cooking, cleaning and entertaining her family and company who visited.  Holidays at Nanny's house meant a full house, full bellies, and full hearts, with a room full of laughter.  Rose has passed on fond memories, ethnic recipes, and holiday traditions that will live on through her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Schoppy and her husband Robert and Marsha Matzura and her husband Stephen all of Kulpmont; two grandsons, Robert Schoppy Jr. and his wife Beth Ann and Stephen Matzura and his wife Kristin; three granddaughters, Amanda Shebelsky and her husband Ryan, Kerri Molesevich and her husband Jeffrey and Mallory Shoop and her husband Robert; five great grandsons, Bobby John and Brody Schoppy, Stephen Matzura, Mason Molesevich and Nolan Shoop; eight great granddaughters, Brooke Rose Schoppy, Bryn and Hannah Shebelsky, Lia and Ali Molesevich, Alaina, Emmi and Adalynn Shoop; one sister, Sophie Janezic of NY as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, John David Zawalick; five brothers, Peter, Michael, Walter, Nicholas and Baby Boy Bogush and eight sisters, Mary Bogush, Stella "Justina" Whalen, Anastasia "Netsy" Poploski, Anna Rzotkiewicz, baby Nettie Bogush, Helen Bogush, Julia Gekosky and baby Anna Bogush.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Rose Marie Zawalick, 86, of 1432 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont - Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 11:00 am in Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Marion Heights.  Viewing will be held Thursday morning from 9:30 - 10:45 with transferal prayers at 10:00 in the C.J.
