Coal Township – Sam V. Pittello, 99, of 9369 St. Rt. 61, passed away on January 28, 2025, at his residence.

He was born in Kulpmont on August 18, 1925, the son of the late Antonio and Theresa (Nestico) Pittello.

Sam was a lifelong resident of Maysville Park, Coal Township. On March 3, 1961, he married the former Theresa I. Wysock in St. Patrick's Church in Reading. They shared 53 years of marriage until Theresa's passing in 2014. Together, Sam and his wife Theresa owned and operated Club 122.

Sam was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels, formerly known as St. Mary's Church.

Sam is survived by his son, Dominic Pittello and wife Jill of Elysburg; his daughter, Maryann Cantiello and husband Domenic of Limerick; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Sam was preceded in death by his sister, Victoria Toth; and four brothers, Charlie, Dominic, Tony, and Joe Pittello.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:30 a.m.  with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont. Viewing will be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass in the Church.
