Mount Carmel – Shirley (Crum) Radzai, 73, of 12 W. 5 ^th St., passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center following a period of illness.

She was born in Salisbury, MD on October 16, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Ira and Mildred (Torbert) Crum.

Shirley received her degree as a Registered Nurse from Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1968.

On December 27, 1970 in Fruitland, MD she married the late Frank Radzai. She and Frank moved to Austin, TX in 1971 where she worked in hospitals in the Austin, San Antonio, and Houston areas. They relocated back to Pennsylvania in 1977 where they owned and operated the Uptown Pharmacy in Mount Carmel until Frank's death in 2008.

Following the closure of the pharmacy and rather then retiring, Shirley began working at Knoebel's Amusement Resort in Elysburg as a cashier at the Bargain Shop. In addition to her gift shop duties and because of her excellent seamstress skills, she was also responsible for repairs of damaged items from all the park's other gift shops.

Shirley was an active member of the community. She served as a volunteer for both Meals of Wheels and for Family Medical providing hospice care services. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as a greeter and counter.

Shirley loved spending time with family and friends. She was a long-time member of a card club, the Jolly Players, that met once a month to play Pinochle. She also enjoyed traveling and taking trips with her daughter to Hawaii, Alaska, and most recently Ireland. Her most treasured times were spent having picnics and playing games with her two grandchildren in North Carolina.

Shirley is survived by a daughter, Christina Radzai and her partner, Steve Knol of Paxinos; a son, Frank Radzai and wife, Tami of NC and their two children, Reese and Tye; a sister, Barbara Milbourne of MD; and several nieces and nephews.
