Kulpmont - Stanley E. Bednarchik, 94, of 801 Scott Street, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 23, 2017 with loving family by his side at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community, where he resided since September 2016.

Born in Sagon on September 8, 1923, he was the son of the late Paul and Catherine (Colbert) Bednarchik. He was a graduate of Coal Township High School.

He was employed for 20 years as an anthracite coal miner at the Glen Burn Colliery and later was employed by L-Co Cabinet in Trevorton. He enjoyed nature, his beloved dog, Holly, and visits from his family.

He was married on June 27, 1953 in St. Casimir's Church, Kulpmont to the former Helen Nieszczerzewski (Nezerski), who survives.

Stanley was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels and previously a member of St. Casimir's Church in Kulpmont.

He served with the US Army in Germany during World War II and proudly wore his veteran's cap.

Stanley became well-known and loved at the Mount Carmel nursing home and his family appreciates the care and compassion he received.

In addition to his wife Helen he is survived by three sons, Alan Bednarchik of Wilkes-Barre; David Bednarchik of Kulpmont and Mark Bednarchik and his wife Hilda of New Cumberland; three grandchildren, all in Pennsylvania, Michael of Susquehanna, Joseph of Reeders and Cassandra Bednarchik of Scranton; three great grandchildren, Matthew, Abigail and Cameron Bednarchik and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Louis and wife Ruth; Joseph and wife RoseMarie; John and wife Agnes and Paul Bednarchik; three sisters, Anna and Helen Bednarchik, Mary Mariano and husband Robert, four sisters-in-law, Stella Zimmerman and husband George, Lillian Poplaski and husband Frank; Mildred Scovak and husband, Edward; and Bertha Nezerski; three brothers-in-law, Alfred Nezerski and wife, Nellie, Anthony Nezerski and wife, Irene; and Edward Nezerski

Bednarchik, 94, of 801 Scott Street, Kulpmont - Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:30 am in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Marion Heights.  Viewing will be held Saturday morning from 10:15 - 11:15  in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont.
