Mount Carmel - Susan Marie Hawkins, 63, of 112 South Locust Street, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Buffalo, NY on July 31, 1953 she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marie (Michalski) Strain. She was a graduate of Rome Catholic High School and had a  Business Associates Degree.

On March 24, 1972 in Albany, NY, she married the late N. John Hawkins, who preceded her in death on May 9, 2006, Susan was a homemaker.

Susan was a member and officer of the Anthracite Fire Company, and a volunteer for the Danville SPCA. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren; animals were her passion.

Survivors include three daughters, Tracey Rebuck and her husband Daniel of Ephrata; Jackie Hawkins of Lancaster and Susan Hawkins of Mount Carmel; one son, Joseph Hawkins and his fiancé Janine Fegley of Mount Carmel; four grandchildren, Matthew Rebuck, Megan Rebuck, Michael Hawkins and Andre Hawkins; a brother-in-law, Frank Hawkins of NY and a sister-in-law, Anne Hawkins of New Hampshire. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hawkins.

Susan Marie Hawkins, 63, of 112 South Locust Street, Mount Carmel - A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 8:00  pm in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J.
