Sylvia Ann (Rogutski) Hynoski, of Mt. Carmel passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family. She was 95 years old.

Sylvia lived her whole long and blessed life in Mt. Carmel. She was born in Mt. Carmel on July 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Francis Rogutski and Anna (Juckniewicz) Rogutski of Mt. Carmel.

She attended Mt. Carmel Schools.

On August 28, 1954, she married the late Frank Stanley Hynoski of Wilburton at St. Joseph's Church in Mt. Carmel.

Sylvia worked at the garment factory in Mt. Carmel as well as a cleaning lady at Matlow's. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church, now known as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and the Area Polish Cultural Club.

Anyone who knew Sylvia knew she had a deep love of her family, a strong Polish heritage, and a deep faith in God. Until her last days, she spent her time watching daily mass and praying multiple rosaries for all of her family and friends. If someone needed a special intention, Sylvia would pray endlessly for them. With her rosary in hand, she looked forward to and listened to every MCA football game, cheering on her boys. She could still speak in Polish and passed her favorite Polish phrases down to her family. Those close to her would all agree that Sylvia told it like it was and had her own special way of letting you know how she felt about things.

She was very loved and well cared for in her Oak Street homestead by her daughter as well as the outstanding staff of Connections Life Care, formerly known as Family Home Medical. She looked forward to their visits as well as the daily visits from her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as various other relatives and friends.

Sylvia is survived by her two children, her daughter, Dianne Darrah and her husband John Darrah and her son, Frank Hynoski and companion Shari Garman; her sister, Joan Owens; her grandchildren, Kelly Domanski and her husband, Aaron Domanski, John Darrah and his wife, Rachael Darrah, Vanessa Herbert and her husband, Brandon Herbert; her great-grandchildren, Jack Darrah, Josie Darrah, Lucas Shipe, and Owen Herbert.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her brother, John Rogutski, and her sister, Dorothy Milewski.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Father Francis Karwacki as celebrant in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with Transferal Prayers at 10 a.m. in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt Carmel, PA 17851, C. J. Lucas IV Supervisor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa's Sisters) at 536 South Street, Mahanoy City, PA 17948.
