Catawissa – Theodore (Ted) Joseph Schultz, 99, of 10 Skyview Road, passed away at Brookdale Senior Living, Bloomsburg, PA on August 12, 2017.

Born in Mount Carmel on December 21, 1917, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Williams) Schultz.  Ted lived in Mount Carmel within a four block radius, his entire life, until 2012 moving in with his daughter in Catawissa.  He graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1935, where he later in life was a member of the school board.

On October 19, 1940 in Mount Carmel, he married the love of his life, Hilda K. Keim, who precedes him in death.

Ted owned and operated Schultz Paint and Wallpaper Store on North Oak Street in Mount Carmel. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, bowling and card playing with his great grandkids.

He was a long time, active member of Grace United Church of Christ in Mount Carmel and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mount Carmel.  He was a life member of Elks Lodge #356, serving as exalted ruler in 1954-1955.  While there he bowled a 300-game on the tough Elks lanes.

Ted served in the United States Army Air Corps. He was active during WWII and honorably discharged in 1946 when the war ended and proudly received the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

Ted is survived by a son, Theodore John Schultz of Bayfield, CO; three daughters, Gail Catherine Schultz of Catawissa, Susan Elaine Gelety and her husband John of Bloomsburg and Debra Ann Ryherd and her husband Michael of Downingtown; Four Grandsons; Six Granddaughters; Twelve Great Grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; five sisters; and a granddaughter, Amy Gelety.

Theodore (Ted) Joseph Schultz, 99, of Catawissa – Graveside service will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Howerters Church Cemetery (Jacobs Cemetery), Howerters Road and PA-3010, Line Mountain with Reverend Joan Brown, officiating.  Arrangements are being cared for by the C.
