Kulpmont - Theresa F. Matzura, 88, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital with her family at her side.

She was born in Kulpmont, July 11, 1930, the eldest daughter of the late Andrew and Violet (Yeziorski) Feudale. She attended St. Casimir Elementary School and graduated from Kulpmont High School as Salutatorian of the class of 1947.

She continued her education at Thompson Institute in Harrisburg, then worked as a Medical Secretary at WalterReedArmyHospital in Washington, D.C.

Theresa returned to Kulpmont, married Francis Matzura, and worked at Geisinger Hospital in Danville.  She later worked in the garment industry as a sewing machine operator while raising her five children.

After her children were grown, Theresa enrolled in the Danville Area School of Nursing graduating Valedictorian of the class of 1977.

Theresa took great pride working on the Oncology Unit at Geisinger Medical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse until her retirement in 1992.

During retirement she enjoyed camping, traveling and most importantly spending time with family, including her Life Geisinger family in Kulpmont. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels formerly a member of St. Casimir's Church, Kulpmont Ladies Lions, ILGWU, Kulpmont Senior Citizens and enjoyed bingo.

Theresa was blessed with five children, Carol Wolfgang and her fiancé Charles Staskiel of Marion Heights; Sheryl Kane of Montoursville; Stephen Matzura and his wife Marsha (Zawalick) of Kulpmont; Andrea Ziegler and her husband Robert of Siglerville; and Melissa Dillow and her husband John of Mount Carmel.

Her grandchildren include Tara Avellino and her husband Dennis, Daniel Wolfgang and his wife Cindy, James Kane and his wife Cheryl, Brian Kane and his wife Meghan, Margaret Heddings and her husband Frank, Emily Merryman and her husband Kyle, Michael Kane II, Amanda Shebelsky and her husband Ryan, Kerri Molesevich and her husband Jeffrey, Mallory Shoop and her husband Robert, Carissa Ziegler, Jessica Turner and her husband Paul, Rachael Ziegler, Justin Dillow and Jason Dillow. Theresa has 28 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Leonard Kurpell, nieces and nephews, Karen Yablonski, Tina Novak, Ronald Novak, Donna Klisher, Andrew Lee Long and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, two sisters, Albina Young and Alberta Kurpell, a brother-in-law, Geoffrey Young, a son-in-law, Roger Wolfgang, nephew John Young, and great-great granddaughter Ava Grace

Theresa F. Matzura, 88, of Kulpmont - Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer, officiating.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.  Viewing will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 with Transferal Prayers at 10:00 in the C.J.
