Mount Carmel – Vigilia "Gilly" (Dallabrida) Elgin, 83, of 23 N. Willow St., passed away October 24, 2022 at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

She was born in Atlas on May 21, 1939, the daughter of August and Henrietta (Zamboni) Dallabrida.

Gilly was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School, class of 1956 and completed her nursing program at Poly Clinic in Harrisburg. She was employed at Danville State Hospital for a short time, then became a stay-at-home mother. She later returned to nursing in 1982 at Mountain View Manor, until her retirement in 1999.

On September 15, 1962, she married Joseph P. Elgin in St. Peter's Catholic Church.

She was a lifelong resident of Mount Carmel and a member of Divine Redeemer Church.

Gilly is survived by two daughters, Diane Elgin and husband, Timothy Donahoe and Joanne Berkoski and husband, Charlie; son, Michael Elgin and wife, Rachel (Brouse); daughter-in-law, Victoria (Basile) Elgin; brother-in-law, Carl Kutza; grandchildren, Lucia Elgin and wife, Alaura, Nicholas Elgin, Luke Berkoski, Katelyn Elgin; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gilly was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph P. Elgin; son, Mark J. Elgin; and two sisters, Mary Louise Fedock and Lorraine Kutza.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 8 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. with transferal prayers at 10 a.m. in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt. Carmel, C. J.
