Mount Carmel - Walter J. Sosnoski, 75, of 651 Hillside Drive, went to be with Our Lord Jesus on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Danville on October 7, 1941 the son of the late Jesse and Eleanor (Szymanski) Sosnoski.

Walter was a graduate of our Mother of Consolation School and a graduate of Mount Carmel High School Class of 1959, as well as a graduate of Allen Bradley, a Rockwell Company in program controllers in 1986. He was a graduate of International Correspondence School earning a diploma in general electronics in 1972, he then received a diploma from Leeds & Northrop in instrument training Electronics and Operations Maintenance in 1981. He completed courses at Bell & Howell School on active and passive components and basic circuit applications and also attended Sieman's Energy Automation and completed S5 Maintenance in Atlanta, GA.  He was employed at TRW and Textron both of Danville as an electronic tech.  He was also employed by Chrome Alloy Turbine Air facts in that same capacity.

On October 12, 1968 in Holy Cross Church, Mount Carmel he married the former Anna Marie Bosevich, who survives.

Walt was a Vietnam veteran serving with the US Army from 1965-1966, while there he served in Bien WA, Mekong Delta and near Tan Son Nhut Air Force Base; his company was attached to an Air Borne Unit. He received the good conduct medal, expert rifleman medal, expeditionary forces Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1966. He was very proud to have served his country. Walt served as a lineman and electrician and graduated from Signal School while serving with the US Army.

In addition to his wife, Anna Marie he is survived by two sons, Jesse Sosnoski and Daniel Sosnoski, both of Mount Carmel; a sister, Eleanor Ann Mahalchich and her husband, Michael of Pottsville; sister-in-law, Toni Furcon and her husband, Joseph of Mountaintop; an aunt, Harriet Obrien and her daughter, Patty of State College; a cousin, Daniel Obrien also of State College as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Walter Sosnoski Jr., two brothers, Leon and Joseph Sosnoski, a niece Maura Sosnoski and a nephew Kelly Sosnoski.

Walter J. Sosnoski, 75, of 651 Hillside Drive, Mount Carmel - A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mount Carmel with Father Martin O. Moran III, officiating.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.  Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 10:00 - 10:45 with transferal prayers at 10:15 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J.
