Mount Carmel - Wayne Michael Brokenshire, 65, of 440 North Locust Street, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in his residence surrounded by his family..

Born in Danville on January 31, 1952, he was the son of Caroline (Fabrizio) Brokenshire of Mount Carmel and the late Walter Brokenshire.

Wayne was a 1971 graduate of Mount Carmel High School and attended Penn State University, he received a Bachelor's Degree from Bloomsburg University and a Master's Degree from Wilkes University and a Master's Degree from Scranton University.

He was employed as a math teacher at Shamokin Area High School with 34 years of service, prior to that he was employed in the Cardinal Brennan School District.

On May 5, 1973 in St. Peter's Church, Mount Carmel, he married the former Deborah Mannello, who survives.

Wayne along with Warren Altomare have been the voice of WKMC Red Tornado football for 33 years.  He was a football coach for Cardinal Brennan, track and field coach for Shamokin, basketball coach for Holy Spirit and coached his son and grandson in Mount Carmel Jr. baseball league.  He was a humble and kind man who would do anything for anybody.  He loved his family and was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

In addition to his wife, Deborah and mother, Caroline he is survived by a daughter, Alyssa Lea Klokis of Mount Carmel; a son, Wayne W. Brokenshire and his wife, Ashley of Kulpmont; a granddaughter, Abigail Lea Klokis, four grandsons, Jacob Michael Klokis, Jason Walter Klokis, Aidan William-Wayne Brokenshire and Austin James Brokenshire; two brothers, Thomas Brokenshire of Mount Carmel and William Brokenshire as well as several cousins and loving friends. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Joseph Klokis  his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Stella and Orlando James Mannello.

Wayne Michael Brokenshire, 65, of 440 North Locust Street, Mount Carmel - Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mount Carmel with Father Martin O. Moran III, officiating.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  Viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 and Friday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 with transferal prayers at 9:45 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J.
