William (Bill) "Sonny" Shively Frye, Jr. of Kulpmont, 79, born July 24, 1944, passed peacefully in his home on April 11, 2024. He was the son of William and Mary (Metchock) Frye Sr.

Bill's career as an Ironworker allowed him to work and help build most power plants. Once retired, his open schedule allowed him the opportunity to tap into his interest in auto mechanics at community auto garages and sales, prepping vehicles for sale, even when they were for his own purchase.  Bill made good use of those purchased vehicles to get him to his other love, the outdoors and hunting, especially with his son, Billy, his brother Ken, and his Pop; hiking and getting positioned throughout "the bush" for that trophy rack.

On July 27, 1985, he married Dawne (Lenza) Benedict, who survives.

Throughout the years, Bill spent lots of time with friends and family telling stories, using his "colorful" language to express his points of view or just to add an extra flare to his tale.  These times were spent around campfires, sitting on the patio, playing a game of Farkle at the bar, dining at the holiday table, or just congregating in the living room at his home.  No matter what came out of his mouth, when you saw that grin or heard that laugh, there was no doubting the soft spot he had for those he loved.  His unconditional love was demonstrated in that phone call he responded to, to come help with the leaky sink; to immediately come help with the broken-down car; to run to Boyers to pick up more rolls for that impromptu picnic; to sit in the rain to watch and cheer at a grandchild's game; or to carry down all those holiday decorations from the attic for Dawne, and that was EVERY holiday; every time asking, "Why do you do this?".

Bill's amazing spirit and memory will live on, especially every time a jellybean is eaten, or when you grab a hard candy, open that cupboard to grab an archway cookie, or the refrigerator for a Pepsi.  There is likely enough candy and sweets next to his recliner to share for years to come, and can't forget the cake. Goodbye Will, you will be forever in our hearts and memories.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dawne Frye; three sons, William (Nadine) Frye III, Dave Benedict and Jacquie, and Scott (Melissa) Benedict; a daughter, Amy Herb; grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Joshua, Hannah, Logan, Colin, Amanda Kissinger, and Dylan Kissinger; great-grandchildren, Greyson, Jaeden, and Maddie; two brothers, Ken and Cindy Frye and Roy and Rita Lenza; and four sisters, Theda Stabinski, Phyllis Rapinski, Marlene (Wendy) Campbell, and Carole (Bobby) Clark; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Helen Mary (Anna) Kissinger, a brother, Mike Lenza; and a mother-in-law, Peg Wasko.

Funeral Service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
