C. J. Lucas Funeral Home has provided quality service and comfort for over a century to hundreds, even thousands, of area families. Five generations of one family have provided comfort for families during times of stress and grief. "We at C. J. Lucas Funeral Home pride ourselves on our availability to the community at such a stressful time in their lives," said Charles J. Lucas, IV, who is the fifth generation of the family's licensed funeral directors.
C. J. Lucas Funeral Home is full-service, family-owned and operated, and is located in both Mount Carmel and Kulpmont with a licensed director on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our main branch is located at 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, under the direction of C. J. Lucas, IV, Supervisor. The branch office at 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, is supervised by Ashley P. Doyle.
C. J. Lucas Funeral Home provides a wide range of funeral services for local community families.
Cremation, funeral, and pre-arrangement services are all provided by both locations.
In Memory of... Kazimierz P. Lukasiewicze
Born 1854 - Died 5/6/1915
Worked as a miner for a few years, then decided to change his name from Lukasiewicze to Lucas. He decided to open a Polish General Store, located at Third & Maple streets in Mount Carmel, the present site of Wachovia Bank. As a sideline, he made picture frames and was a cabinet and casket maker. In 1891, Charles P. Lucas attended Eckels School of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia to become a licensed funeral director, which at that time was a three week course. In that year, he opened the Charles P. Lucas Funeral Home at the Third & Maple Streets location. In 1909, the funeral home was relocated to its present location at 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, PA.

Graduated from Mount Carmel High School and graduated from Eckels School of Mortuary Science in 1936. That same year, he married the former Virginia Olsshefski. In 1936, Virginia & Charles Jr. branched out the Lucas business and opened a funeral home at 1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, PA. In 1947, Virginia attended Eckels School of Mortuary Science and graduated in 1948, where she supervised.
